Glasgow: A weather expert is sounding the alarm about Storm Eowyn. They say it could be the most intense storm Scotland has seen in a while.

On Friday, Glasgow will face strong winds and dangerous conditions. The Met Office has issued a red warning, which is serious stuff. This is the first red warning since November 2021.

The warning lasts from 10 AM to 5 PM. Plus, there’s a yellow alert for snow starting at 6 AM and going until midnight. So, it’s going to be a wild day.

Meteorologist Sean Batty mentioned that Eowyn might be one for the history books. It could rival the infamous Cyclone Friedhelm. Remember Hurricane Bawbag from 2011? That storm caused chaos everywhere.

Bawbag brought travel disruptions, with trains and flights canceled. About 150,000 homes lost power. It all started as a joke on Twitter, but it quickly became a sensation.

Now, back to Eowyn. The red warning covers Glasgow and surrounding areas. Schools and nurseries are closing down for safety. Glasgow City Council announced that all schools will be closed tomorrow.

Storm Eowyn is expected to bring winds of 70-80 mph. If it goes over 80 mph, it’ll likely be around Islay and Ayrshire. The Met Office warns of flying debris and dangerous driving conditions.

So, if you’re in Glasgow, stay safe and keep an eye on the weather updates. It’s going to be a rough ride!
