Storm Eowyn has led to NHS cancellations of non-urgent appointments in Glasgow, prioritizing safety amid severe weather warnings and travel advice.
Glasgow: The NHS is making some big changes due to Storm Eowyn. They’ve decided to cancel all non-urgent outpatient and routine hospital appointments. This is all about keeping everyone safe.
Police Scotland has advised against traveling, so the health board is rearranging appointments. They’re really sorry for any hassle this causes. If your appointment is affected, they’ll reach out to you soon.
Don’t worry, urgent care and essential services like maternity will still be running. The Met Office is predicting some wild weather, with wind gusts hitting nearly 90mph in central Scotland.
The red weather warning is in effect from 10am Friday until 6pm. There’s also an amber warning for the same day. It’s serious out there!
A spokesperson from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said they’re doing this to avoid any risks for patients traveling for non-urgent care. They’ll reschedule your appointment as quickly as they can.
All vaccination clinics for Friday are also canceled, but they’ll be in touch to reschedule those too. They’re asking everyone to help spread the word to friends and family who might be affected.
On top of that, Scotrail has already announced no train services will run on Friday. First Bus is also halting all bus services during the storm’s peak. Stay safe out there!
