Drivers should prepare for a 57-hour A3 closure this weekend for bridge installation, with diversions in place for smooth travel.
The work is part of a larger £317 million project at the Wisley interchange. It aims to improve the area and restore the heathland. The bridge will connect Ockham and Wisley Commons, which haven’t been linked since the A3 was built in the late 1970s.
Drivers will need to follow diversions based on their routes. For southbound traffic, the main diversion goes via the M25 to junction 9. The non-motorway route uses A3, A245, and A246 to get back on the A3.
Northbound drivers will also have diversions. The main route goes through B2215 and A24 to join the M25. The non-motorway option uses B2215 and A307 to rejoin the A3 at Painshill junction.
Wisley Lane will have diversions in both directions, using Portsmouth Road and other local roads. RHS Wisley will stay open, but access will be via specific routes. So, plan ahead and drive safely!
