A Surrey lorry driver was caught driving under the influence after consuming half a bottle of vodka, posing a serious risk on the road
Juodis was nearly five times over the legal limit. Officers from Sussex Police’s Tactical Firearms Unit spotted him swerving. They were on patrol when they noticed the lorry acting dangerously.
Inspector Mark Robinson called it shocking. He said Juodis was lucky he didn’t hurt anyone. The police had to close four lanes to safely arrest him.
This all happened around 1 am on January 11. Juodis blew a positive breath test at the scene. Later, he tested even higher at 172 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is just 35.
Juodis, 50, from Worcester Park, faced charges for drink driving. He admitted to it in court on January 13. The court learned he had past convictions for the same thing. He got three months in jail and a five-year driving ban.
Inspector Robinson praised his team for their professionalism. They worked hard to keep everyone safe during this dangerous situation.
