Glasgow: A BBC weather presenter is sounding the alarm about Storm Eowyn. She says it’s something she’s never seen before in her career. That’s pretty serious!

The storm is set to hit the UK hard, with warnings all over the place. Glasgow is bracing for snow and strong winds starting early Friday and lasting into Saturday.

According to reports, winds could reach up to 80 mph. The Met Office has issued an amber alert for Friday from 6 AM to 9 PM. There’s also a yellow warning for snow and strong winds from 3 AM Friday to 3 PM Saturday.

Even though some folks doubt these weather alerts, Judith Ralston, the weather presenter, insists we should take this one seriously. She shared on X, “This is one major storm. I’ve not seen anything like it in my career.”

The Met Office warns of possible travel disruptions as rain and snow sweep through Scotland and northern England this weekend. They expect rain to start as snow, especially in hilly areas.

They mentioned that any snow accumulation will be brief, mainly on hills. But in some places, we could see 2-5 cm above 100 meters and 5-10 cm above 300 meters.

In the northern areas, snow might stick around longer, with up to 25 cm possible in higher spots. Strong winds could create temporary blizzard conditions, especially in the higher grounds.

Areas like East Dunbartonshire, Glasgow, and North Lanarkshire are on alert. The forecast for Glasgow from Friday to Sunday shows a mix of rain and snow, with very windy conditions.
