Surrey: Storm Éowyn is on its way, and it’s not holding back. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the whole southeast, including Surrey. Strong winds are expected to sweep through the area.

From 5 AM to 3 PM on Friday, January 24, gusts could reach up to 50 mph. If you’re traveling that morning, be prepared for delays on the roads and railways. Flights from Heathrow and Gatwick might also face disruptions.

Initially, Surrey wasn’t on the warning list, but the Met Office updated it on January 22. Now, the whole southeast and London are included. A spokesperson mentioned that as the storm moves across the northwest, winds will pick up significantly.

The southern part of Surrey will feel the strongest winds. Towns like Haslemere could see gusts of 57 mph. Other areas aren’t far behind, with Guildford at 56 mph and Woking at 54 mph. The winds should start calming down by 3 PM.

Rain is also expected, starting at midnight and getting heavy between 3 AM and 6 AM. Showers should wrap up by 9 AM. With all this weather, the Met Office advises checking road conditions and travel schedules.

While Surrey braces for the storm, the north of the UK will face even stronger gusts, possibly exceeding 80 mph. This could lead to significant impacts in those areas. Heavy rain is also on the way, making for a rough end to the week.

As we head into Saturday, the winds may ease, but more rain is expected on Sunday and Monday. So, keep an eye on the weather if you’re in Surrey!
