The SSPCA’s new service helps match pets with potential owners based on lifestyle and preferences
Now, potential pet owners can share what they’re looking for. The charity will match them with animals that fit their needs.
This new system lets people list their preferences. Then, they get a list of animals that could be their ideal “paw-mate.”
Jennie Macdonald, who heads fostering and rehoming, says they’ve revamped the whole process. They listened to feedback and did some research to make it better for everyone.
New owners can create an account and fill out just one application. Before, they had to apply for each animal they liked.
The new approach considers the applicant’s lifestyle. This way, they can find the best match for both the person and the pet.
Adding a furry friend to your family is a big deal. So, they want to ensure it’s the right fit for everyone involved.
Last year, the charity saw a 13% rise in adoptions and a 21% increase in fostering. This helped reduce the average time animals spent in care from 127 days to just 58.
They hope this new service will keep that momentum going. If you’re unsure about adopting, fostering is a great option too.
Some animals struggle in kennels. Many come from tough situations and need a loving home. Getting them into a home quickly is crucial for their well-being.
Fostering not only gives them love but also helps them gain confidence. Plus, it allows the charity to learn more about the animals. This way, they can find the best permanent homes for them.
