A Fatal Accident Inquiry into the death of knifeman Badreddin Bosh is set to begin, years after his violent attack at the Park Inn Hotel in Glasgow.
Glasgow: A date has been set for a Fatal Accident Inquiry into Badreddin Abdalla Adam Bosh’s death. He was shot by police after a violent rampage at the Park Inn Hotel.
This incident happened on June 26, 2020. Bosh stabbed six people before armed police intervened. They had to use firearms after trying less-lethal options first.
Among the injured were three asylum seekers, two hotel staff, and a police officer. Constable David Whyte was critically hurt but has since recovered.
After leaving the hospital, Constable Whyte expressed gratitude to the medical team. He feels lucky to be alive and is eager to return to duty.
Authorities found no wrongdoing by the police. They deemed the shooting of Bosh necessary. The inquiry will start on March 11 at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
Bosh’s family has been notified about the inquiry. The Lord Advocate believes the circumstances of his death raise serious public concern.
During the pandemic, Bosh was one of over 300 asylum seekers moved to hotels. The Home Office aimed to reduce homelessness and virus spread.
An independent report revealed Bosh sought help for his mental health 72 times before the attack. It criticized the housing provider for failing to communicate effectively.
Many migrants felt unsafe at the hotel and were afraid to voice concerns. The report labeled Bosh’s death an “avoidable tragedy” due to poor management of asylum seekers.
Kenny Donnelly from the Crown Office stated that the inquiry will ensure a thorough public examination of the facts. The family will be kept updated on the process.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed their commitment to assist with the inquiry.
