Glasgow: Storm Éowyn is causing quite a stir. The Met Office has pinpointed when the winds will finally calm down. Earlier today, winds hit a wild 90mph in the city center.

They even issued a rare red weather warning. Police Scotland advised folks in the red zone to stay put and avoid traveling. Public transport? It’s a mess. No First Bus services, the Subway is shut, and ScotRail isn’t running anywhere.

Streets in Glasgow are nearly empty as people hunker down. If you’re curious about the latest updates, there’s a live blog tracking the storm. At around 1pm, winds reached 87mph at Bishopton, not far from the city.

Forecasts show gusts of 90mph for the city center during that hour. The red warning is set to last until 5pm today, with warnings of dangerous conditions and debris that could pose risks to life.

After that, an amber warning will stay in effect until 9pm, switching to yellow until Saturday afternoon. Plus, there’s a yellow warning for snow and ice from midnight to 11am Saturday. Expect wintry showers overnight.

Winds will stay above 80mph for most of the afternoon, dropping below 70mph later tonight. They’ll still be blustery into Saturday afternoon, so hang tight!
