Glasgow: A medical student named Azkah Sardar has become the first Scottish voice on Ring Video Doorbells. She beat out 300 other candidates in a nationwide search.

Azkah’s voice is now part of Ring’s Quick Replies feature. This feature acts like an answering machine for your doorbell. If you’re not home, it leaves a friendly message for visitors.

She recorded a unique Scots language reply that says, “We’re no in the noo, but haud on! Afore ye go it’d be pure dead brilliant if you’d leave a wee message. Haste ye back!”

At just 23, Azkah decided to audition after hearing about it on the radio. She stepped out of her comfort zone and went for it. The audition took place at Silverburn Shopping Centre, where she impressed the judges, including radio DJ Edith Bowman.

Azkah shared how much it means to her to be chosen. She thinks it’s a cool idea and is excited to represent Scotland. She believes Scotland has a lot to offer and deserves more representation.

Edith Bowman praised Azkah, saying she was full of energy and personality. The competition was tough, with many great entries. She hopes to hear the Glasgow accent on doorbells all over the UK.

Ring’s research found that many people find the Scottish accent friendly and charming. Dave Ward from Ring expressed delight in featuring a Scottish voice, highlighting the warmth of the accent.

Overall, this campaign celebrates regional dialects, and Azkah’s voice is a fantastic start for Scotland.
