Glasgow: A man named Marcin Myslicki just had his application to drive private hire cars in Glasgow turned down. This decision came after police shared details about his troubling history.

He’s been banned from driving twice. The first time was in 2013 for drink-driving, and he got a 15-month ban. Then in 2018, he failed to provide a breath sample and was banned for three years.

Things got worse for him later that same year when he was caught driving while disqualified and without insurance. The police also mentioned a serious incident from 2017 where he assaulted and abducted his pregnant wife.

Myslicki argued that these events were in the past and claimed he’s changed since becoming a father. But the licensing committee wasn’t convinced.

Cllr Alex Wilson, who leads the committee, pointed out that these weren’t just accidents. He emphasized that Myslicki had been found guilty in court.

Police Scotland opposed his application, stating they didn’t believe he was a “fit and proper person” to hold a license. They highlighted his past offenses, including a fine and community service for assaulting his wife.

In 2018, he also faced issues for not providing a breath sample and acting aggressively when police tried to detain him. The committee was informed about his previous breaches of bail conditions and driving without insurance.

In the end, the committee decided against granting him the license, prioritizing public safety over his claims of change.
