Glasgow: A private hire driver had a rough day. Syed Shah tried to renew his driving licence but got turned down. The licensing folks weren’t having it after a police complaint.

Apparently, back in 2023, he spat on a guy while working. Not cool, right? An officer mentioned he was sentenced to 100 hours of unpaid work for his actions.

During the meeting, they said he was aggressive, shouting and swearing at another man. Then he crossed the line by spitting on him. Police Scotland thinks he’s not fit to hold a licence anymore.

Mr. Shah said he was really sorry and felt people were giving him a hard time. But Cllr Alex Wilson, who leads the licensing committee, wasn’t impressed. He said Shah acted totally unreasonable for a driver.

Driving in Glasgow can be tough, especially with rowdy folks around. But the councillor told Shah he needed to handle it better. In the end, they decided to deny his application for a three-year licence. One councillor, Bailie Hanif Raja, disagreed with the decision, though.
