People on long-term PIP awards will receive simpler review letters from the DWP, making the process easier and less stressful for many.
London: The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is shaking things up a bit. If you’re nearing the end of your 10-year Personal Independence Payment (PIP) award, you might be in for a pleasant surprise. Most folks won’t need to go through a face-to-face evaluation anymore. Instead, they’re rolling out shorter review forms for those with long-term awards.
To help you out, the DWP has shared a sample form online. It’s called the ‘PIP AR2’ form, and it’s part of their PIP Toolkit. This way, you can get a heads-up on what to expect when the form lands in your mailbox.
The new form is pretty straightforward. It asks for personal details, your main healthcare provider, and info about your health condition. They want to know how your condition affects your daily life, not just the condition itself.
There are a few key questions to answer. For instance, they’ll ask if anything has changed with your health since your last PIP award. They also want to know if your daily living or mobility needs have shifted.
One question even asks if you’re okay with the DWP getting more info from your doctor. You don’t have to give consent, but if you don’t, they’ll just use the info they already have.
At the end of the form, you’ll need to sign and date it. Don’t forget, your PIP payments will keep coming while they review your case. You’ll find the form in your post, along with a letter explaining everything.
Just a heads-up: there’s usually a month to send the form back. If you need more time, just call the PIP enquiry line. They’re there to help!
