Glasgow schools are shutting down due to Storm Eowyn’s severe weather warning. Stay safe and keep an eye on updates from your school.
This warning is serious, with winds expected to reach 88mph in the city center. The council shared the news on X, urging everyone to stay safe. They said schools and nurseries will keep parents updated directly.
Other areas like East Ayrshire and West Dunbartonshire are also closing schools. We’ll let you know if more councils decide to follow suit.
The red warning is in effect from 10am to 5pm on Friday. An amber warning will kick in from 1pm Friday until 6am Saturday. The Met Office warns of flying debris and possible power cuts.
Glasgow also has a yellow wind warning from 6am to midnight on Friday. This will continue into Saturday and Sunday. A yellow snow warning for Glasgow has been lifted, but it still applies to Argyll and Bute.
